Catering

NCS provides catering services and management to 95% of primary and 45% of secondary schools in Norfolk totalling 4 million school lunches per year.

Our menu development team and nutritionists screen food specifications against our strict additive and ingredients policy when compiling the termly menus; and cater for specific religious, cultural or medical diets.

For Secondary Schools NCS have developed a food hall concept for serving an exciting range of food options that appeal to students and provide healthy food choices. The cafe style service offers a wide menu range with speed of service.

Our healthy, nutritious lunches are either prepared on-site or are delivered daily to primary schools. Menus are determined a term ahead and parents and teachers notified in advance. For special events or occasions, the meals are named relating to the subject, making the lunch a part of the learning process of the day.

School Food Trust

The School Food Trust

The Government via the School Food Trust have introduced nutrient based standards in all schools. A guide to this is available on the School Food Trust website www.schoolfoodtrust.org.uk

It provides information on how to meet, implement and monitor Government's food based and nutrient based standards for school lunches.

How are Norfolk doing it

Our 4 week Primary School menu cycles are developed using recipes from our menu planning and nutrient analysis software package. These menu cycles meet all the nutrient based standards for both Primary and Secondary schools.
