Clean sweep for Norse at Ipswich Borough Council
July 2010

Norse Commercial Services has been awarded a major cleaning contract by Ipswich Borough Council (IBC).
The £400k a year contract covers the Borough Council’s civic buildings, including the Council’s Grafton House headquarters, IP-City Centre, sports centres and public toilets.
“This is a significant win for Norse,” commented Sales Director Geoff Tucker, “won against major national competitors and via a rigorous tender process.”
“It is a clear indication of Norse’s increasing strength in the contract services and facilities management market place,” he added, “and we are looking forward to developing a close and mutually beneficial relationship with IBC.”
Councillor John Carnall, Deputy Leader of the Council, said: “We were impressed with Norse’s application for this important contract and we look forward to a successful relationship over the next three years. The contract is good news for Norse, the Council and for the council tax-payer.”
The initial contract is for three years with two, one-year optional extensions. The 80 staff employed on the current cleaning contract will transfer to Norse under a TUPE arrangement.
The IBC contract, run from Norse’s premises near Woodbridge, takes the company’s turnover in Suffolk to around £20 million and provides employment for around 500 people across the county.
Councillor Tony Williams, Norse board member and councillor with responsibility for Commercial Services on Norfolk County Council, said: "Once again, Norse has proven that it has got what it takes to compete successfully against the biggest names in business to provide excellent value-for-money facilities management services, and I hope our relationship with Ipswich Borough Council will flourish and be enormously beneficial to the residents of Ipswich." |
