Another ‘Big Tick’ for Norse
July 2009

Big Tick Award for Norse

Norse has been re-accredited with the Big Tick accolade in the nPower Skills for Life Award category at the annual awards gala dinner.

In the Regional Awards, a presentation specifically for companies who operate or are based in the East of England, Norse was also awarded a Highly Commended in the Employability Award category.

Norse has been involved in helping remove barriers to work for the long term unemployed for a number of years; initially working with vulnerable people and the probation service.

An important development in the company’s placement job search and support programmes was the introduction of a one-stop-contact point within the organisation, ensuring that learning is shared between the various projects.

Nearly 300 guests attended the Awards and Dinner to celebrate the achievements of East of England companies for their impact on society.

Mike Brophy, Regional Director for Business in the Community said:  “It is fantastic to see so many strong examples of responsible business practice. The Big Tick is now recognised as both a valuable and difficult award to achieve. It means a company has demonstrated ways in which they positively make a difference to the environment, their workplace, and the community or in the marketplace in which they operate.”

“Those who achieve the Big Tick” he added, “are leading companies, ones that run their businesses aware that they depend above all on the talent, innovation and loyalty of their people. They know that they cannot build a successful sustainable business without constantly showing their commitment to being a better business.”
